Why does it always seem the originals got it all right?

The Sumerians, Stonehenge, Babe Ruth, Citizen Kane, Da Vinci. Why are these things/people seemingly perfect in the eyes of critics? Why do we still reflect on these seemingly god like creations/ feats? - Personally I think we should have stopped looking at these things 30 years ago and just moved on. For example, there are very few books written in the past 25 years that get ped out in cles and ,despite our increase of knowledge in recent times, aren't as highly looked at as "animal farm" or the works of shakespeare are. Don't you all think it's time we STOP looking at these old things and build on newer ideas? Our society will look pretty dumb if in the year 4000 we're still teaching Romeo and Juliet instead of something written 10 years ago :)
